How to guide: Using a Cock Ring

What is a cock ring, and why do you want your husband to use one? Cock rings are O-rings that are placed around the base of the penis shaft and were created to help strengthen an erection. Ultimately, by using a cock ring, it slows and traps the flow of blood from penile tissue which results in longer lasting erections and heightened orgasms for your man.

Although it may seem foreign and even scary to your husband to wear one, he could be missing out on a larger, harder and a more sensitive penis…
So, with that said, let’s get onto our topic of using a cock ring…

Some things to remember

Before you start, it’s important to note that when your man is using a cock ring, it doesn’t cut off the flow of blood altogether. If at any time he experiences pain, numbness or pins & needles, he should remove it immediately.

A really great bonus for us ladies is that sex toys have really evolved and developed to make sure we have bang-on orgasms too. There are many varieties of cock rings on the market (including ones with a clitoral vibrator attached for you), so make sure you pick one that will work for you both, and that it is able to stretch sufficiently!

Step 1: Putting it on

Cock rings should be put on while the penis is flaccid (not erect). Place a small amount of lubrication on the inside of the cock ring and slide it over the penis head and down until it rests at the base of the penile shaft.

If you opt for a cock ring that is made from silicone, remember to only use water-based lubricants as silicone-based lubricants can’t be used with silicone sex toys (for more info on that please read our How To Guide’s: Using Lubricants).

As your husband becomes erect, the cock ring should become tight but not cause any pain or discomfort.

Step 2: How to use it

Once your husband has the cock ring in place and he is comfortable with it, you can begin having sex. If you opt for a cock ring that has a clitoral vibrator attached to it, position it so that it is able to make contact with your clitoris.

NB: You will need to restrict your sex time to under 30 minutes, as a cock ring should not be used for longer than half an hour. To remove it, simply re-apply some lubrication and slide it off.

Step 3: Clean it well

After using a cock ring, you should always wash it with bath soap and warm water, remove the batteries (if it’s battery operated) and make sure to pack it away where your kids can’t find it!

Also, if you have other silicone sex toys, don’t store them together as silicone has a nasty habit of morphing together, and you may end up with a giant mess!

As always, have fun, explore and enjoy each other!
